James MacGowen (1726--1780) was a
Baptist minister, preacher, and author of controversial and
devotional works which combined allegory with social satire and
appeared in numerous editions in England and America. 'Infernal
Conference', first published in 1772, is his chief work."
MacGowen raised a few hackles with the blunt and outspoken way in
which he mocked the foibles of others professing to be Christians,
and for his apparently serious subtext that Satan and his minions
played a far greater part in earthly affairs than most people
credited.
This Demonology volume would make a great addition to any
Occult Library.
